If you’ve got twins on the way, you have double the responsibility when it comes to picking names!

There is a lot to plan when you’re having twins. Considering how you will choose baby names for twins is big decision. Some people like to give twins names that go together, while others prefer to give them unique names to set them apart.

How will you know if the names sound good together? Whether you are expecting twin girls, twin boys, or a twin boy and girl, here are 7 suggestions of different ways to name twins.

1. Names that Start with the same Letter

Giving twins names that start with the same letter is a great way to add coordination to their identities, while still allowing room for unique qualities. Sterling and Serenity, and Luca and Luna are examples of this kind of matching. Start by researching girl names that start with the same letter and boy names that start with the same letter.

5. Names from the Same Category

This is a great way to add cohesion to twin names without an exact match. For example, you could pick two Biblical names, Ruth and Joseph, or two city names, Savannah and Kingston. The styles match, while still providing them their own unique twist. Search through girl name categories and boy name categories to find the category you like most, and go from there.

3. Names that are Similar in Length

Names with the same number of letters often go well together, even if they sound very different. Mae and Amy, and Justin and Connor are pairs of the same length.

4. Names that are the Same Number of Syllables

Another way to match names is by the number of syllables. Scott and Luke, or Jennifer and Christopher match each other in this way.

2. Names that End in the Same Letters

Picking names that end in the same letters will ensure they go together well. For example, Jaxson and Dawson, and Olivia and Sofia. Start your search by researching girl names that end in the same letters and boy names that end in the same letters.

6. Names that Rhyme

Choosing rhyming names is definitely more on the matching end of the spectrum. There are some adorable choices if you choose this option. Kylie and Mylie, and Jayden and Kayden are examples of rhyming twin names. Start you search by looking at twin girl names that rhyme, twin girl names that rhyme and twin boy and girl names that rhyme.

7. Names that are Unique from One Another

While the above guidelines are some ideas, there is no right or wrong way to name your twins, and you can break all of those rules and pick two completely unique names.

Conclusion

Whatever your naming preference, it’s important to realize that these names are going to be said together for much of your children’s lives. Family members are going to refer to the pair as a duo. They’ll probably get talked about together in school and among friends. So, whatever your choice, make sure to pick twin names that sound good together!
